This past weekend I had a fun girls’ night out! It was a birthday celebration; four of us went to the Pink concert on Saturday night at the Staples Center! Spending a night out with girlfriends is so cathartic, feels like I’m feeding my soul and having a mini vacation. And seeing Pink in concert for the first time…it was amazing…so inspirational!!!
As I watched Pink perform, I was flooded with inspiration. Her level of creativity and talent was off the charts! I couldn’t help but think about her brand style and how every aspect of her show was in total alignment with her essence. This is her secret to success.
I’ll share with you some of my thoughts about how I saw the Pink brand essence unfold in it’s brightest glory and how we can learn from her to reach our own level of peak potential super-stardom.
She shows her personality and lives by her values
It was clear that Pink was in touch with her essence. Watching her and listening to her lyrics, she is living by her values and just fine being ‘different’, she even celebrates it. She is unconventional, rebellious, guided by love, values creative freedom, health and fitness, and needs playful fun and connection. As she performed, all of these personality traits and values were clearly on display.
She knows her style and she’s not afraid to show it
I could see that her Signature Brand Style is Edge/Sport. The Edge is shown from the way she carries herself and in her visual style from head to toe. She has spiked hair, tattoos, piercings, dark eye makeup, wears lots of black and leather, studs, and generally pushes the boundaries with her outfits.
The Sport shows up in her crop tops, showing her toned abs, cargo pants, and tennis shoes. Her show is intensely physical. She performs acrobatic moves flying through the air, suspended by thin cable cords; it’s an amazing sight to see. The Sport Style is open and approachable. This comes through by the way she adlibs throughout the show, gets up close and personal and engages the audience. She creates intimacy through her warmth.
Pink’s set design and show also embraced the combination of Edge/Sport. From the edgy dance routines to the sporty acrobatic moves, it was integrated. Pink is in complete brand clarity and alignment.
She is unapologetic about who she is
Whether you like Pink or not, she puts herself out there in an unapologetic way. This projects a ‘comfortable in her own skin’ feeling, we feel it and that is magically magnetizing. Starting with the name change from Alecia Beth Moore to Pink, I can’t imagine going from Sybil Henry to…Green! That takes one hell of a vision and big set of you know what. But it is who she is and she’s not shrinking or stopping herself from being highly visible to share her gifts.
I wondered what it would be like if we all could put ourselves out there to show all of who we are, unapologetically. My question, inspired by Pink is, “What would you do differently today if you didn’t have any fear?”
