I attended Lisa Steadman’s Woohoo Weekend and it was an incredible experience of business information, inspiration and connecting with amazing women who are rocking the world! It was an honor to speak about how to Stand for Your Brand and Embody Your Authentic Style.

As the event approached, I was really excited to shop for my dress. I wanted to model the message by effectively communicating my brand and embodying my authentic style…walk my talk!

So, I set out to find what I hoped to be the perfect dress that would speak volumes before I even said a word. Hmmmm, can you feel a little pressure building?

I’d like to share the shopping experience with you for a sneak peek behind the scenes of the styling process.

But first…I’ll clarify the selection criteria for decision making. The dress must:

  • Represent what my brand stands for, creativity, quality and style!
  • Be a solid color to photograph well
  • Be a bright color within my brand color palette, pink, red, yellow, blue/green, white
  • Flatter my hourglass shape; it must show my waist
  • Be appropriate for a daytime event with sizzle for stage

Now I’m ready to share!!!

Nice variety, this will be fun! I’ll organize and try them on by color, starting with winter white…

Ooooooh, I love this dress, but…it would be best for an evening event…

Here it is as a short dress…now it looks too classic, better as a long dress…next!

Nice details on this dress, but too subtle for photographs.

Great dress but too short.

Ooooooh, I think we’ve got something here, very curvy and the high black and white contrast give it drama, loving it!

Oops, false alarm. This dress doesn’t photograph well from a front angle, I look like a puzzle piece, next, please!

Love this dress! Fits well, great color; but too casual, not enough sizzle for stage. I’ll buy it to wear as an attendee for other networking events.

Very nice, but it’s so tight at the bottom I can hardly walk, it’s a NO!

Gorgeous shade of red, hmmmm, if I shorten the length, hmmmm, I like it but I want to love it and I don’t, next!

This soft gold metallic color looked great on the hanger but not enough contrast against my skin. I’ll look naked on stage from a distance; we can’t have that:)

The stores are closing and I’ll go out again tomorrow…

Oh, I forgot about a dress I bought last month, time to check my closet…

Yes, this works! Great color, looks creative, excellent quality, fun to accessorize…this is the dress! I’ll just tuck the sleeve up a bit so I don’t look like I have one arm in photos.

Here it is, the dress with my hair and makeup and I’m ready to roll! I’m enjoying a quiet moment just before going on stage. I feel relaxed and ready to share how to Stand for Your Brand!
