We can take cues from some of our favorite actresses who have walked down the red carpet—they know how to strike a pose. With all eyes of the world on them, they have to be ready for their photo op at all times. They feel more pressure than most to get their best shot out there for all to see.
While most of us don’t share the same level of scrutiny, it’s all relative. In your world, it may still sting if you have an unflattering photo plastered all over Facebook, or you might cringe when you look at the photo of yourself on your own website if you think it’s less than your best.
So, here are a few tips to learn your best angle so you can get your best shot and love how you look in photos.
It all starts with attitude . . .
Great posture and a warm smile go a long way in looking stunning in your photos.
Look right into the camera with confidence and smile like you mean it! Pull your head slightly forward to avoid any chance of giving the appearance of a double chin.
To show your most flattering body angle and shave off a few pounds in an instant . . .
Shoulders back, plant one foot in front of the other and rest your body weight on your back foot. Tilt your hips at an angle and push them out slightly . . .
but not too much!
Now for your arms . . .
Keep at least one arm away from your body, elbows back and rest your hand on your hip, or just relax them loosely at your side.
But, avoid placing your arms directly in front of your body . . .
You’ll appear uncomfortable and self-conscious. Keep your purse at your side or it will look like you’re trying to hide parts of your body.
If there’s a detail on your garment . . .
Work it! . . . But, not too hard. Relax!
And if you’re in a playful mood, show your personality and go for it! This always makes for a fun and memorable photo!
With a little practice, over time you’ll know exactly what to do and may even create your own signature pose!
